What should I ask from a roofing contractor?
- Proof of a Valid Contractors License
- Proof of Liability Insurance (Certificate of Liability Coverage)
- Proof of Workman's Compensation Insurance
- Valid and signed contract. What makes a contract valid? a minimum of the following is required:
- Are there any subcontractors?
- Are there senior citizen discounts or other discounts available?
- Who will remove and reinstall my solar panels?
- Are the warranties transferable, workmanship & manufacturers?
- Do you have good tarps at jobsite in case of a surprise rain?

What does a contractor expect from a homeowner?
Your contractor will also be expecting several things of you. Be thorough, state your concerns. Good communication is NEVER the cause of problems.
Your contractor will be asking for:
- Good communication. Have any questions, please ask!
- Your confidence in him/her and the crew.
- Access to electric
- Access to locked screened areas to do a good clean-up.
- No parked vehicles in driveway, boats, toys, etc. - it is a construction site
- When you are available during the day and how you can be contacted
- Attention to safety is the number one priority - please be cautious when coming and going from the home or if you are having visitors. Especially small children. This is a construction site.
- Prompt payment upon invoicing
- If contractor did a good job - everything we promised - would you consider allowing us to put a job sign in your yard for a couple of weeks?
- If we lived up to your expectations, would you refer us? this is the best advertising tool for a contractor and the least expensive.
